Bachelorette Recap - Hometown Dates
This week was hometown dates, and were these not the most normal dates we’ve seen on this show? I was pleasantly surprised by all of the families and was almost a little bored because they all seemed wonderful. Well, almost.
Chris was first up and I was pretty excited to see where he would take Emily in Chicago. I am not a big Chris fan and on his date he seemed so nervous and just not very comfortable. His Dad was beyond sweet, and his Mom seemed so loving. His sister grilling Emily on the other hand, yikes! Overall, his was not as weird as I had envisioned. It was still obvious there was not as much chemistry as there had been in the past.
Then it was out to Utah for Jef’s hometown. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Emily is completely taken by Jef, and I didn’t understand why until he read that sweet letter to her. I still don’t see a lasting connection, but I think she seems so comfortable around him and his family was sweet to her. I mean look at those eyes as he read the letter to her…
Next up, Arie. Now, all of my friends have been swooning over him all season and I just haven’t been on the same page. Emily seems to have a great connection with him, but he seems a little too smooth for me. Can we talk about his Mom for a second?
One, I think that was a strapless dress with a bedazzled bra showing underneath. Two, she was probably gorgeous at one time, but all of that plastic surgery…wow. I was the most surprised by his family. They weren’t the warmest, but still, not bad overall. I did think it was rude to speak Dutch in front of her, so I am glad Arie stopped that right away.
Save the best for last? Sean’s family was so cute, weren’t they? Okay, I’m a little biased but his Dad was just cute as a button. This part of the show made me want to move to Texas! They played a few jokes that fell a little flat due to Emily being “too sweet” to loosen up and laugh a little. Thank heavens he doesn’t still live at home or that probably would have been a deal breaker.
In the end, Emily said good bye to Chris and he had quite the attitude, didn’t he? I will say, Emily told each of the families that she was falling in love with them men and I think that is what made it hard for me to sympathize with her last night. On to Bachelor Pad you go, Chris!
